There's not much better than a hot cup of coffee in the morning. While I usually default to a quick Kuerig cup with a splash of coconut milk to-go, on the weekends I like to take my time and indulge in a creamy, frothy Bulletproof Coffee. We use ground beans from the local Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, a Chemex with a reusable filter, grass-fed butter, coconut oil, and a few drops of stevia extract to sweeten. Bulletproof aficionados incorporate their 2 tbsp of butter and oil in a blender. I can only fit so many appliances in my 2 kitchen cabinets, so I mix mine viciously with a spoon or a latte frother!
Need: coffee grounds (buy local!), 2 tbsp grass-fed butter, 1-2 tbsp coconut oil, sweetener if you prefer (2 drops of stevia extract, honey, vanilla extract, etc).
Brew your coffee. If you're using a Chemex (highly recommended), add 2 heaping scoops of grounds per cup of coffee to your filter.
Slowly pour boiling water over the center of the grounds. It's easiest/best to do this with a kettle that has a long, thin spout for a more controlled and slow pour.
Once the dripping has slowed to a single drip every couple of seconds, you're safe to remove the filter.
Pour yourself a hot cup and add the butter, coconut oil and sweetener. If you're using a blender, pour your coffee and add-ins into that and blend until there's a thick foam on top. Otherwise, put that spoon (or latte frother) to work!
